about.

a seed is planted

virtualMemories is the brainchild of perige and is founded on the idea that in a technologically driven world there must be a better way to capture and relive those priceless memories. so after some exhaustive research and looking at everything from scrapbooks, web based solutions and dvd's, it became increasingly apparent to us that an interactive cd was far and away the best solution. however, to our surprise there was no good options for this type of product on the market yet which fueled our excitement and drive even more!

we have lift off! well, kinda...

discussions started happening during the first part of 2003 as to what this new "thing" would be. as the ideas began to flow and virtualMemories began to take shape we started to wonder logistically how we would pull this off while simultaneously running a branding firm. we had a strong enough belief in the product though that we started burning the midnight oil. countless hours of development and strategic planning took place over the next several months until finally we had our first beta version. at that point virtualMemories became a huge success, generating tons of – um, oh wait, actually thats when we ran into our first major hurdle. cost! yip, the base price of the disc had to be set at around $350 just to break even and by the time the user added a few features they would be over the $500 mark which dramatically narrowed our user demographic. without much marketing effort we produced a few orders and then let the idea sit idle for the next year or so.

one step back and two steps forward

after some time had passed, this crazy virtualMemories idea resurfaced. we started asking some straight forward yet difficult questions that caused us to re-look at everything from the interface and programming to the packaging and overall process. we realized that for this idea to be viable, we had to reprogram the thing from the ground up, rethink the packaging and re-look at the marketing strategy. all of which meant a tremendous amount of cost and time – again!

we decided it would be worth doing. at the least we would find out what it could be and not leave any "what ifs" in the back of our minds. so we spent the next year or so completely overhauling the product. the result was drop-dead gorgeous and the price was about 10% of the first version. our excitement was short lived however, as we ran into our second major hurdle. we soon realized that our marketing approach sucked! we knew the best way to reach our customers was not by individual representatives (which was our original plan) but via the web. so a website that could be used to educate, sell and allow the user to custom build there disc was eminent.

the website was built over the next year or so – allowing us for the first time to offer a truly superior digital memory archiving product to the public at a great value with an easy-to-use web based builder interface (that's a mouthful)!

lets build something together

we are looking forward to sharing the fruits of our labor with you and think you'll be positivily surprised – both with the product and the overall experience. our official launch is january 2008 so we invite you to become a part of the revolution!
